This parallel world might be mistaken for a dumping ground of ancient game clichés. What? You never heard of Paraworld? I don’t blame you because 2006 is so forgettable that not even the Wikipedia site can provide information about the game and its creators. RTS game that gets maligned at every turn for having formulaic gameplay and a silly premise, but you know what? I had fun playing this for several days straight, and I plan to go back for more. You begin your adventure with three heroes sent to check out a scientific anomaly and wind up thrust into a world where dinosaurs, Norsemen, nomads, pirates, and ninjas co-exist and electricity does not. Obviously, the story of Eternal Punishment could be confusing at times, since none of us had ever played its predecessor. While it may have been a bit baffling at points, it was also incredibly dark (like Rule Of Rose dark) and will always remain with those who played through as kids and had no idea what they were in for. Horror fans will particularly note elements taken from the Cthulhu mythos, like a character named Nyarlathotep. on the PS1 at all and in fact didn’t arrive for North American audiences until 2011 on the PSP. Its also interesting to note that it wasn’t actually the second Persona game - it was the third. Previous game Innocent Sin didn’t make it to the U.S. Eternal Punishment was still figuring out its various systems and hadn’t perfected them yet, but was a big jump up from the original game. This forgotten classic of the series was released at the very tail end of the PS1’s life cycle as the PS2 was coming to dominance, so Eternal Punishment didn’t make as big an impact as it could have been it released earlier in prime PS1 RPG time.

– Shin Megami Tensai: Persona 2: Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment There has to be a time where these games finally gets played by newer audiences, have the media recognize its importances (and hopefully apologize for ignoring it for so long), and have its place in gaming histoy. Though what we consider original isn’t accessable to casual games (the rely on brand recognition) and are doomed to fail at the market, we can’t allow such masterpieces to fail forever. We gamers have been crying to developers for originality to keep their interest, but those that listened to us, it never becomes successfuly. Though games like Beyond Good & Evil, Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, Shenmue, Okami, Planescape: Torment, System Shock, Ico and Spec Ops: The Line are great examples of games that did earned their cult following over the years ( you will not see any of those games that are named in this list), there are many more that still remains to get noticed. Thanks to the power of the internet, so many games have a chance to gather a cult following. Can you imagine what life without the internet? Word of mouth wouldn’t be good enough and lack of recommendations would have kept all of these products in obscurity. For the fact that video games are charging more than their retailed price (thanks to loot boxes, DLC, and microtransactions as useless services) it’s no wonder why we’ve been really picky on the games that we want to play.

There’s just no way a middle-class working person has all the time to invest so many hours upon a video game. Might even call it.Moon logic. There are just too many damn games being released each year. Some of the puzzle solutions were totally bonkers, and even with a guide were very tedious. Essentially after getting enough love to actually stay up a decent amount and being able to explore, but before running out of things to do "on my own" without a guide.

I think I really enjoyed the middle 1/3 of the game. And unfortunately, this game is so niche, that the only English guide I could find was a single one on Gamefaqs.and occasionally things were unclear on it and so you're kind of stuck. Feel free to explore on your own and try and do as much as you want, but this game is VERY guide dependent to do a lot of things. This time (called Love) is ridiculously short at the beginning but as you do things you extend it, and soon you'll have plenty of time to do whatever you want. If you're going in new, the game doesn't really explain this well: you have a limited amount of time you can stay awake before falling asleep (think like Stardew Valley etc) and if you pass out, that's it.game over, you start over. There's also an extensive music catalog that you may not even hear any unless you buy the tracks from a store. You are essentially exploring a strange fantasy world within a video game trying to restore peace and save souls of creatures that were slaughtered by the video games protagonist. It was localized by Tim Rogers, and I believe is quoted as one of the big inspirations for Undertale. Very dream like (you are in-game sleeping) and surreal.
